Please welcome Charles Day! :) We asked Charles to discuss : Why do you think Urban Legends are so interesting and appealable to individuals of all ages? Thank you, Charles for taking the time to do a guest post for us and we wish you the best of luck with your new release.

I think they’re interesting because they have this sort of grab to them. You want to believe that they are true. Like the legend of Lake Ronkonkoma, where legend has it that a young Indian woman who drowned after her father killed her lover because he was from another tribe, she vowed to take down a male every year. And the truth is that every couple of years, a man does indeed drown in that lake. I mean, that’s creepy to me.

In my book The Legend of The Pumpkin Thief, I really had a ton of fun creating an urban legend that all the characters have to deal with, including old Mr’s Needlewhitter.

About the Author

Charles Day is the Horror Writer Association’s Mentor Program Chairperson, Co-Chair for the NY/LI Chapter, and a member of the HWA Library committee. He is also a member of the New England Horror Writers Association, the American Library Association, and the Young Adult Library Services Association.

He is also the Bram Stoker Award® nominated author of the YA novel, THE LEGEND OF THE PUMPKIN THIEF. He’s also published his first adult novel DEEP WITHIN and the first book in his Adventures of Kyle McGerrt trilogy, a YA western heroic fantasy, THE HUNT FOR THE GHOULISH BARTENDER, and his first coauthored novel with Mark Taylor, REDEMPTION

His forthcoming publications and projects in development for 2014 include a comic book series

based on the ADVENTURES OF KYLE McGERRT trilogy, his first middle grade series, THE

UNDERDWELLERS, and his third YA novel, IMMORTAL FAMILY.

Rinny presents Mailbox Monday #8

Welcome to this weeks Mailbox Monday!

Hey everyone! Hope your having a great start to the week after a lovely weekend?

It's Rinny here today bringing you what  I got in my mailbox this past week. So lets see then:

First up

We were extremely lucky and won a £25 amazon voucher from the lovely and awesome author Lizzy Ford. So as we do with all things blog related we went half's. With my voucher i got two new books. (Boy did i have a rough time choosing what to get and still have a lil bit to spend. I am hopeless at making decisions even worse when it comes to two things books and food lol.

The first book i bought was partly down to my new found obsession with free online action packed MMO game Marvel Heroes 2015, if you play let me know. However a author quote on the front really sold it to me " It's The Avengers meets The Walking Dead with a large order of epic served on the side." (Ernest Cline, best selling author of Ready Player One). Say what yup yup yup hell yes I just could not pass the chance up lol.

Next up

The next book i got was the second from my books with my Amazon voucher. I haven't got round to reading the Percy Jackson series but have heard it is amazing. This series is meant to be like that but Norse mythology which i adore. I cannot wait to read this book first in a series and it has beautiful illustrations in it. Think it is classed as middle grade. Love the cover! So beautiful in person.
